چکیده

The incidence of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is increasing annually as the metabolic syndrome factors increase. This study aimed to analyze involvement periodontopathic bacteria in NASH-related HCC (NASH-HCC). Questionnaire investigation, periodontal examination, medical and specimen collection (saliva, mouth-rinsed water, peripheral blood) were performed 40 patients with NASH 20 NASH-HCC. Immunoglobulin (Ig) G antibody titers against Porphyromonas gingivalis (p = 0.031) Fusobacterium nucleatum 0.003) significantly higher NASH-HCC group than group. P. F. ratios group; however, only ratio was significant 0.009). Shannon index salivary bacterial flora lower < 0.001). had a IgA concentration 0.007) slower flow rate 0.003). In all participants, showed negative correlation 0.02). Oral possibly associated pathogenesis, levels correlated nucleatum.

Non-invasive biomarkers in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis-induced hepatocellular carcinoma.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is by far the most common form of chronic liver disease worldwide, affecting adults as well as children. Under the term of NAFLD there is a wide spectrum of diseases ranging from simple steatosis to the non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which can progress to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several mechanisms have been described to infl...

Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Implications for Lycopene Intervention

Increased prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the consequences of the current obesity epidemic. NAFLD is a major form of chronic liver disease that is highly prevalent in obese and overweight adults and children. Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the severe form of NAFLD, and uncontrolled inflammation as displayed in NASH has been identified as one of the key ...

Fatty Acid Elongation in Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) represents a risk factor for the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is characterized by quantitative and qualitative changes in hepatic lipids. Since elongation of fatty acids from C16 to C18 has recently been reported to promote both hepatic lipid accumulation and inflammation we aimed to investigate whether a frequently used mouse NASH model...

p27 Is a Critical Prognostic Biomarker in Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis-Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a recently identified chronic liver disease, which progresses to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). As the number of patients studied to date has been limited, clinically useful prognostic biomarkers of NASH-related HCC have not been available. In this study, we investigated the status of a cell-cycle regulator, p27, in NASH-related HCC. ...

Association between homocysteine and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in Chinese adults: a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease worldwide, and its prevalence is likely to rise even further. To help understand the pathogenesis and early prevention of progressive NAFLD, this large-scale study was designed to explore the potential association between homocysteine and the prevalence of NAFLD. METHODS A total of 7203 subjects aged 18 year...
